I hear this from people that say I blew a headgasket so my question is why? Possable loose or broken head bolt or low counter bores or to much heat from coolant all of this can cause a headgasket to fail so be real carfull not to damage the H/G then look where you suspect the gasket failed at.

Some just fail over time and some engines are more prone to it.  Google Ford 6L diesel pick up head gasket and you'll get pages of stuff. Overheating the engine is a common cause, different metals expanding at different rates and so forth.  Gasket over time break down and fail.   When pulling a head off of anything where you have a head gasket issue you always check the head to see if its warped or even get it pressure tested to insure there are no cracks. Those heads on the Belarus tractors are built pretty solid. When I did by cylinders pistons and stuff I had a valve grind done on mine at a friends place.  He had heard the negative stories about Belarus and  was impressed at the quality of the valves and seats. He said they were hard and made of good metal.

When you say (bel562va) blown headgasket are your refering to a low spot on the top of the liner flange which caused the headgasket to fail?

Copied a friends manual that also has a 562/242, have the gasket in hand and about to order new hoses.    the radiator seeps so I will get those gaskets done along with the thermostat, belt etc.

Thanks for the Reply and can't wait to see your photos...

Well I had a whole bunch but all I could find is this pic !
I got some fuzz in the rad real bad when cutting in a swamp and didn't notice right away... it got hot.   So the following winter I pulled the head off because I noticed some oil in the coolant.  When I pulled the head off I found the cylinder walls scored up good and pistons dented on top.  I bought this tractor used and ran for 16 years like that as it didn't happen when I had it.  I supsect someone had water in fuel issues and blew tips off a couple injectors or somethng and traded it off.   Anyway parts were cheap so I put in new liners, pistions rings etc.

Nope nothing special about them. Just like any 4cyl diesel. I have pics of doing one I'll post.

Have taken on a 562M as a project and have fixed the electrical issues from setting in the field for several years, am now about to replace the head gasket.   no water in oil or oil in water, just compression blowing out over top water pump.   have not done much diesel work but would like to know if there are any particulars i need to abide by or just jump into as one would with any other engine that has a blown head gasket?
