Shoot the stat with your laser upper then lower you should see temperature the same at upper and lower when t-stat is open.Check water pump pressure near heater hose outlet too! list goes on!

Finally had a little time to run the tractor for a while.   She seemed to overheat but I had no more radiator overflow.  I suspect that is because it's low.   I used a laser thermometer to test areas.   Keeping in mind it was 35F at the time.   The motor was about 170.  The top of the radiator only showed 45 (assuming due to low water).   Since a pressure test held, im thinking maybe replace the thermostat as a logical next step?

If you have a infrared thermometer check the temp by the gauge's sending unit in the head.  As by your pic there it looks like its saying the engine is 105C or like 220F.   Also check your rad good( pull the front grill off) as its common on these to plug up with fuzz , straw , dirt etc.  Especially at the bottom where the rad curtain sits.

But yeah if all looks good, coolant full, fan belt not slipping, and rad clean i'd try a thermostat. The ones i've seen were 70c or 80C (160-175F).  On mine i slip a piece of 3/8"s fuel line or some sort of hose over the little drain cock spout on the bottom of the rad on the right side.  Then drain out some into a 5 gal pail till its below the head. Then pull the stat. out, its not a bad job on these.  Note there is an o-ring on the stat also in the housing if you for get that ... it bypass and doesn't let the engine warm up.   When you drain the coolant have a look in the rad up top and see how the cores look and if they're all plugged off or something.

Like haymaker said check radiator cap first if its still blowing antifreeze out the radiator tube then we have a possable problem.I would then pickup a radiator sniffer (detect exhaust gas) from NAPA auto store its a blue color to start with then while pumping the bulb you have color change to yellow dye then its detecting exhaust in the water. Possable headgasket failure which will leak E/gas into the combustion chamber-not good.Another way to detect E/gas is connect a pvc tube to the overflow tube then stick the other end into a glass cup and look for bubbles. The bubble check has to be done while the themostat is open to watch for it building pressure. Another way is pull the exhaust manifold and look for traces of coolant in each exhaust port.

Good point, I'll run it again until warm and see what happens.

I added 1 gallon.  And yes, the overflow/pressure released tube.

Yeah but did it push out a gallon before or was it just low so you added some and noticed it was pushing some out?  It holds like 5 gallons of coolant i believe.

When you say over flow I assume you mean the over flow tube coming off the radiator neck?

When you filled the rad up to start how full was it?  As you do have to allow room for expansion as if its filled right up to the neck it will push coolant out.

i have a Belarus 8345 with an upgraded motor to the D245 turbo (basically the 9345).   When the tractor heats up it forces the cool an out the overflow.  I added about a gallon to top it off when cold.  Not sure if I over filled it or something else is going on.  It didn't appear to overheat, but I didn't pug it under any load either.   I can't find the psi to do a radiator pressure test, so I tried it at 7psi.  That held without loss.   I was thinking thermostat, but seems like that is opening up as its only when it starts to heat that I lose the coolant.   Ideas?
