My first tractor, Belarus 572A - some gears not working?
« Reply #1 on: January 22, 2020, 04:16:06 AM »
Hey all,
So I've just switched from the city to a small farm, and have just purchased a 1996 Belarus 572A - my first tractor.  After spending five hours playing with the batteries, I've finally got it cranked up and moving.

Unfortunately I can only seem to get reverse and 1st gear working. Am I missing something?  I move the shift upwards/downwards from centre with the clutch in, but then I release the clutch and nothing happens. Revs are up but there's no movement, like it's still in neutral.

It's the "newer model" shift referred to in the manual - i.e. there's no knob to turn (I kinda wish there was...), rather you move the shift to the left and then up for high range, down for low range, then select gear in a |-|-| pattern.

It's also kinda hard to feel these multiple junctions with the shift... anyone else experienced this? Any ideas on how to get the "touch?

Cheers
Ritchie
