Title: 98 belarus 2045 4x4 issues
Post by: Huntfish1 on April 07, 2019, 10:02:08 PM
Front 4x4 shaft spins but front wheels dont. Good fluid in both sides and no broken parts at the wheels.. what can it be?

I haven't worked on one of them small ones.

So you're saying if the tractor was stuck with the back wheels spinning the drive shaft to the front axel is turning still?  While moving  the front drive driveshaft will turn even if its disengaged from the transmission as its connected to the front wheels. So you have to determine what's at fault be it something that drives the front driveshaft or if that's all good what's wrong in the front axel.  Be it the diff, axel shafts, or something on the left or right wheel drives.

Its full time 4 wheel drive. Its has true rear diff lock as a option. When you drive the front shaft going to the front axle turns but the outer axle shafts going to the front tires doesnt turn either wheel. So basically im using it in just 2 wheel mode. I dont know what it could be there is no knocks or sounds and fluid is clean of any metal.

Have you jacked up the front wheels and turned the wheels by hand to try and pin point what the issue is??  Something has let go if you don't have fwd drive anymore.

Yes i have just by turning them i dont feel any issues or hear any noise. Ive never worked on a system like this so im afraid to tear into anything might make it worse.

Ok so when it's in the air and you turn the wheels what happens??  Does the driveshaft that drives the front diff turn if you turn one wheel and hold the other?  You should be able to pin point the problem area.

Okay try it different ways.  Also IF you jack up the front of the tractor you shouldn't be able to turn the driveshaft that connects the front diff. to the main transmission if its full time 4 wheel drive.

Ok i tilted the bucket and lifted the front up with the loader. You can spin both front tires freely in both directions.  But the front shaft doesnt spin. No noises heard. So im guessing something isnt working in the front housing. If the pinion and ring gear are good then its something else that doesn't work. ...

Okay yes now you have to figure out what's wrong. So it could be something wrong with the front differential , broken axle shaft  or something wrong in the right or left  housing.  If you have a link to a parts diagram or take some pics.  I can't remember how that mfd axle is built.  It's different then the bigger models.
