Haymaker you do have a good point here I did post about my 4x4 lever pulling up hard at the handle. The 4x4 handle is at the lowest setting could be another place to investigate. Been running tractor with this drag backing up is the worst it will slow tractor down backing up.Still at a loss here but I love this tractor its been good to me!

Well that's wierd.  Like I said only time I see that is 4x4 and actually auto mode too as I tried it today when using the 825.  With the mfd totally off it will coast the same fwd or Rev.   Has it always dome this or is this something new just lately?

sos  cat sample can back neg with no metal in oil.this drag is in two drive dont use 4wheel drive only use it in winter. i live on a hill and when backing up and clutch is in coasting backwards it will slow tractor down.i checked adjustment on clutch i have free play and it goes into gear just fine no slip when going forward pulling a woods mower.both rear wheels turn ok hot or cold drag is the same when backing up.tractor runs good makes me wonder if i have to much throw on linkage causing a bind.applying brakes together or one at a time it still drags so i backed off rear brakes and no change in drag.i shot both brake cans with infared after mowing temperature was same on both sides transmission temperature about 140 degree after mowing

Well have you drained the oil and are there any filings or something??

I reread your post ... so you say when backing up it feels like its dragging?   Is this with it  in 4x4 ??  There is 2 wheel, auto and  4x4.   You can always "feel"  it in 4x4 mode on these tractors at least on mine and it will sort of "drag" so to speak on good traction vs coasting in 2 wheel and auto mode with the clutch in.  Thats why its good to not run them in 4x4 on pavement!  Is it worse when the tractor is good and hot from working?  When you jacked it up can you turn the wheels fwd and backwards?

Well they should turn physically by hand.  You can try loosening the adjuster bolts off and see. Or have someone apply the brakes left right and parking brake.  See if you can feel something dragging or not.

Haymaker I did jack the rear axle up then slowly turned each wheel its hard to tell because I have calcium for weight in the tires liquid ballast. Is there a way to back off rear adjusters? Not sure where to look for them Thanks for the follow up too!

Well jack up the back.  I use a heavy hydraulic jack just under the hitch or use the 3pt hitch and bock it safely.   Turn them by hand see if one side is dragging.

On the right side above the brake housing check all those linkages that pivot on the  shaft there.  You can see the brake linkages and the PTO linkages are both on there.  Check that and the other pivot points down there 1st and let me know what you find.

Feels like my brakes are dragging when I back up 562 4x4. I have Pto disengaged correct air pressure in all tire. I have at least 1inch of brake peddle free play. I have checked ebrake I have about 5inch of throw from top of brake handle. Is there an adjustment at the Pto or brake linkage that could be causing this feels like something is dragging?its more prone when backing up.
