Also if you have a Belarus with a D242 engine you need a starter which is 10 tooth CW (that means clockwise I think).

Hi,
Yes the chinese starter is a direct fit.
I have only ever found the original starter and the chinese made gear reduction starter for sale. If you have a 12 volt starter try searching online for 'belarus starter motor 24073708'. There are lots of sites selling them.

Installing a gear reduction starter motor in a Belarus 572

The gear reduction starter motors make for much easier starting of my Belarus 572 tractor. They work with smaller batteries e.g. 660 CCA and the motors turn over faster making starting much quicker and easier. Both of my Belarus 572 tractors are 12 volt starting. The standard starter motor requires a huge 1200 CCA cranking amp battery and even then they crank over very slowly. If the temperature is below 5 deg C (about 40 F) the tractor is very reluctant to start. Since installing gear reduction starters on 2 tractors I havenít had any starting concerns.
Installing the gear reduction starter motors is a bit tricky because the bottom bolt is very difficult to install. I donít recommend running the starter without the bottom bolt installed as it will place considerable stress on the aluminium starter housing. It could easily crack.
I could not find any standard spanner or socket which could get at the bottom bolt because the starter housing is in the way. I made a tool out of a socket with a piece of steel rod welded and bent to shape.
I used a 3/8 drive 17mm socket. It must be a 16 point socket. An 8 point socket will not work because you cannot turn the bolt enough to get the next Ďbiteí at the bolt. See the photos of the tool I made. Take note of the angle the steel rod is welded on, the bend in the rod, and the bit ground out of the back of the socket.
I bought the gear reduction starters from Rare Electrical in the US, but they are made in China. As others have commented on other posts, they can have some quality issues. The first one I bought the circlip fell of the starter solenoid shaft twice. I arc welded the shaft to the solenoid lump of iron and havenít had any problems since.
