MTZ Tractors - Old Models (Belarus) / Re: 420 injector nozzle removal
« on: April 13, 2018, 11:26:24 PM »
It may be a few days until I can post a pic. I know what your saying but there isn't any clamp. It appears the injector screws out, as it has a hex near the base at the head. But from what I can tell it looks like you can't get a wrench on it unless the valve rocker is removed. That would mean the valves may need reset. That seems like a lot of extra work just to change an injector. I was hoping to avoid disturbing the valves/rockers unless absolutely necessary. Nothing in the manual section here either on injector removal. Hoping someone has removed an injector before and knows the process. Maybe a special tool?  Thanks, Roger, Pittsburgh, PA.

Maintenance - Service & Repair / 420 injector nozzle removal
« on: April 11, 2018, 05:07:45 PM »

I have a 420 that is hard starting and runs poorly. It will only run about half speed and blows a little white smoke out the stack. I bought it that way so I do not know the history, except that the previous owner put in a clutch and after reassembly it wouldn't run well. It seems that the forward two cylinders are not firing(has fuel pressure at injector) and I want to pull the injectors and check the nozzles for sticking, clogged or damaged. My question is... how to remove the injectors???  It looks like the rockers must be removed to unscrew the injectors.  Manuals I have aren't any help. From what I can tell the 250 would be the same.
Thanks, Roger, Pittsburgh, PA.
